REPRESENT gives citizens back their voice

Imagine a free world in which governments can be held to account. Where our elected representatives are recognized for what they are; our neighbors. A world in which we have the ability to generate an instant consensus on the things that truly matter.

REPRESENT has a vision of a world in which decentralized voting can make that happen.

A Voice for Everyone

REPRESENT has created a new blockchain app that gives every citizen on Earth the chance to have a say on issues and laws from the convenience of their mobile phones. Governments, organizations, and individuals alike: everyone can use REPRESENT to better their society. The REPRESENT app takes what’s best from our free democracies and updates it for the 21st century.

Our Elected Governments Are Our Neighbors

Democracy means ‘government by the people.’ It’s a way of running a country where the supreme power sits with the people. That power is exercised directly by them, or by their elected agents, under a free electoral system.

Wind back the clock to the fifth century B.C.E, Ancient Athens, Greece. You’re at the birth of democracy, the first known system of self-rule. Each year, 500 male citizens were chosen to serve actively in the government for one year. Those who refused were fined. Every citizen then voted on new laws. Those who didn’t take part in voting were called ‘idiots.’

It was a system called direct democracy and it’s entirely different from what we have today.

Representative Democracy

Our democratic processes are representative. By choosing individuals to serve as elected neighbors for geographical betterment, we delegate responsibility to the people we elected to receive our direction and authority. We did not give them this power to then create authority out of thin air.

But our system has evolved in a way that leaves a lot to be desired. What started out as a beautiful, working dream has become a stagnant, inflexible process.

For too long, we’ve been taught to look at elected governments as something separate from us, but nothing could be further from the truth. We, the people, are the government; and for the first time in the history of humanity, our voices are about to be united in a common cause.

More Transparency Through Blockchain

Imagine a more responsive, intelligent system that puts the power into the hands of the people by taking direct democracy and melding it with the latest technology.

Blockchain can make the process more transparent, dynamic, and live, and this is where REPRESENT comes in.

REPRESENT is a platform that combines innovative blockchain protocols with traditional election-based voting systems. The live voting process means votes can take place anywhere, anytime. Anyone can use the system to organize a fair and equal vote. Communities can vote on the issues that really matter to them, all from the ease of their mobile phones.

Safety in Blockchain

Distributed Ledger Technology lets votes be simultaneously accessed, validated, and updated in an incorruptible way. It takes away the risk of election fraud and puts scrutiny right back into the hands of the voters.

REPRESENT’s platform uses blockchain technology, which makes every action immutable. This means no corruption and no tampering. What’s more, after every vote, voters can check the progress of that vote every step of the way.

More Participation

Voter turnout is never as high as it should be. In the UK, for example, about four in every ten eligible people choose not to vote in general elections. This means that people are disempowered and disenfranchised, unrepresented by the governments elected by others.

But what about using incentives to encourage people to vote? With REPRESENT’s elections, voters earn cryptocurrency tokens each time they create or take part in an election.

And in REPRESENT’s system, these tokens work like shares. Anyone holding these tokens can use the platform’s governance functions.

All Votes Are Equal

Most attempts to create a decentralized, autonomous organization fail because they use weighted voting. The more tokens you hold, the more voting power you get. But you can’t have decentralized governance unless all votes are equal and all participation is uniform. That’s why REPRESENT’s platform only allows each voter to vote once in each proposal or election.

Empowering

Technological innovations give our society a chance to become fairer. REPRESENT can contribute to this by using blockchain and cryptocurrency to place governance authority back where it has always belonged: in the hands of the people.

REPRESENT will instantly improve the accountability of elected public servants and give people a secure voice on any issue of the day.

We, the citizens of the free world, in 2021, have an opportunity to grow our collective freedoms by turning centralized voting systems upside down. This new technology can be used to bring about more collective freedoms.

We can give our communities a way to hold our elected representatives to account every day. Decentralized governance will mean more freedom and a better future for all of us.

It’s time to REPRESENT ourselves.
